Part of the Mechanical Creatures Series
In my earlier work I explored how materials and artifacts accumulate over time, and the new forms they assume. As these objects disintegrate and evolve, their moment in time becomes ambiguous, and their interaction with the landscape can blur subtle distinctions between an old world and a potential new world.
I brought the two worlds together using the modern processes of Photoshop and photo etching, and traditional printmaking.
With Across the Field the structure may appear to be moving across the field as a creature might lumber, or viewed as firmly in the ground, slowly disintegrating and becoming an artifact of the earth.
